It was the subject of the world's first webcam, created by Quentin Stafford-Fraser and Paul Jardetzky in 1991. To save people working in the building the disappointment of finding the coffee machine empty after making the trip to the room, a camera was set up providing a live picture of the coffee pot to all desktop computers on the office network.
The area in which this hotel stands was conceived as New Hunstanton and was the brain child of Henry Le Strange of Hunstanton Hall. [4] Le Strange wanted Hunstanton to develop as a sea-side resort with the expected arrival of the railway, which finally arrived in 1862. [ 4 ]

Hunstanton railway station served the seaside town of Hunstanton in Norfolk, England. Opened in 1862, the station was the northern terminus of the Lynn and Hunstanton Railway.
