Arteaga is one of the 38 municipalities of Coahuila, in north-eastern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Arteaga. The municipality covers an area of 1818.6 km 2. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 19,622. [1]

The Cerro de la Viga is a mountain located in the municipalities of Arteaga, Coahuila and Santiago, Nuevo León in northeastern Mexico.Its peak named Cerro San Rafael culminates at 3,712 m above the sea level and has a prominence of 1,395 m.
