The Agriculture and Food Security Minister (Hebrew: שר החקלאות וביטחון המזון, Sar HaHakla'ut UBithon Hamazon; Arabic: وزير الزراعة وتطوير القرية) is the political head of the ministry, considered a relatively minor position in the Israel cabinet.
In 1951, its control was transferred to the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture (Israel having been created in 1948), and the station was renamed the Agricultural Research Station (ARS). When Yitzhak Volcani died in 1951, after a directorship of thirty years, the organization was renamed the Volcani Institute in his honor.
