Oshkosh West High School is a public high school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and part of the Oshkosh Area School District. As of 2019, the school has 1,691 students in grades 9 through 12. [ 2 ] Originally known as Oshkosh High School when the building was opened in 1961, its name was changed when Oshkosh North High School was built in 1972. [ 3 ]
The site of the hospital was the object of a competition between Green Bay and Oshkosh in 1870. The voters in the area approved an expenditure of $16,700 to begin construction. Mercy Medical Center was founded by Father Roman Scholter, pastor of St. Mary's Church in 1891. He convinced the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother to come to Oshkosh and start St. Mary's Hospital. In 1895 the hospital moved into a four-story facility on the corner of Merritt and Boyd Streets which could accommodate 26 patients.
