The first Auburndale senior class graduated in 1976. On January 14, 1988, Bishop Buechlein announced the Catholic Diocese of Memphis had purchased the Auburndale School. Plans, terms, and even a name, St. Benedict at Auburndale, named after the patron saint of Bishop Buechlein’s order, were agreed upon.
Natural grass practice fields and throwing venues for baseball and softball are directly adjacent to the main stadium. The baseball stadium seats 1,000, including 800 chairs, and has handicap accessible areas on the main concourse. The baseball field measures 325 feet to the outfield fence. Oversized dugouts allow for maximum player comfort.
St. Benedict's played in the first NAIA Tournament in 1937 as one of eight teams in the field in Kansas City. The Ravens also qualified in 1953, 1958, 1965 and 1970. The 1965 Ravens advanced to the final eight of the 32-team field. St. Benedict's also won Central Intercollegiate Conference titles in 1953, 1954 and 1958.
Founded in 1902, St. Benedict School in 1950 expanded to include a high school. In February 2017 St. Benedict Preparatory School announced it would be closing its high school. The last graduating class was in June 2019. [1] St. Benedict Preparatory will continue its mission to serve families with Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 children.

Memorial Stadium opened on May 24, 1957. It is believed the stadium name came to honor those killed in mine working. [27] Memorial Stadium hosted two league All-Star games: the 1947 Illinois State League All-Star Game and the 1950 Mississippi–Ohio Valley League All-Star Game. The Illinois State League All-Star Game was played on August 11, 1947.
