The Phoenix Convention Center is an events venue in downtown Phoenix, Arizona located along East Monroe, East Washington, East Jefferson, North Second, North Third, and North Fifth Streets. The center opened in 1972, and has since hosted national and regional conventions , trade shows , consumer events, musical concerts and theatrical productions.
It opened in the spring of 2002 as part of the ongoing redevelopment efforts in Downtown Phoenix, and reached the 2 million mark in attendance in 2009. Live Nation began operating the venue in 2007. [6] The theater's name was first changed in October 2010 after Comerica Bank acquired the naming rights. [7]
In 1997, the Orpheum became home of the newly-formed Phoenix Opera. [6] In addition to the Phoenix Opera, the Orpheum presents concerts, Broadway musicals, performances of Ballet Arizona and special events. In 2019, Arizona rock band The Maine released a live album that was recorded at the Orpheum Theatre.
