After many tries, I think maybe Anime Fighters just aren't for me and that's okay. Topic. GGXrd, GGAC+R, DBFZ, P4AU, BBCF, etc. Anime fighters are great, you can airdash, shmix people, do long and cool combos and all that good stuff. I think my problem is that there's literally too much for me to recognize and pay attention to.
The opposites for me. Anime is way too fast and way more things happening. I like traditional fighting games more where it's more neutral base and getting in is not easy. I like both, personally, but prefer the Street Fighter style because I feel like there's more strategy to the neutral to participate in.

BBCF ftw. Melty Blood Type Lumina and GBVS are probably your best bet. Melty is more like your regular 2D anime fighter with its own twist on things. Characters are pretty kitted and combos are really fun to perform while also being incredibly accessible.

Guilty Gear +R is an older, yet very fun anime fighter. The barrier for entry is a lot higher, but it has some of the deepest mechanics in all of fighters. It’s normally only $2 on sale, and the community is more than active. Persona 4 Ultimate Arena deserves a mention.
