Granite Peak Ski Resort is a ski area located in Rib Mountain State Park in the Town of Rib Mountain, Marathon County, Wisconsin, south of Wausau.It features 58 runs and 4 terrain parks as of 2022 and boasts a vertical drop of 700 feet (213 m).
The first ski event was the Central Ski Association Championship February 24–25, 1938. The slalom, downhill, cross-country and jumping events attracted more than 465 participants and 3,000 spectators. The CCC built a shelter house, which was opened in December 1939. The shelter is still in use today by Granite Peak Ski Area.
Rib Mountain is home to the Rib Mountain State Park and the Granite Peak Ski Area. The peak is also the site of transmitters for radio and TV stations in the Wausau area, and is the namesake for Wisconsin Public Television's WHRM-TV (Channel 20) and WHRM-FM (90.9), Wisconsin Public Radio's news and classical network station for the area.

Winters are severe with heavy snow and incessant winds. Approximately 25 small glaciers exist in the Beartooths with Grasshopper Glacier being one of the more distinctive. The highest peaks of the Beartooth Mountains are clustered in three groups, topped by Granite Peak , Mount Wood 12,649 ft (3,855 m), and Castle Mountain 12,617 ft (3,846 m).
Granite Peak is a 6,729-foot (2,051 m) elevation summit located 16 mi (26 km) northeast of Palmer in the southern Talkeetna Mountains of the U.S. state of Alaska. This landmark of the Matanuska Valley is set midway between Palmer and Chickaloon , with the Glenn Highway traversing the southern base of this mountain.
