In Italy, it was also used more specifically for sparkling wines produced primarily from it, such as Prosecco di Conegliano e Valdobbiadene, Prosecco di Conegliano and Prosecco di Valdobbiadene, all of which had DOC status, and there was also an IGT zone surrounding them.
The Conegliano Valdobbiadene area is the home of the best Prosecco, an extra dry sparkling white wine.
