Quicksilver Messenger Service is an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco. [3] The band achieved wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and, through their recordings, [ 4 ] with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts.
In May 1985, all three Quicksilver members left the band due to "business disputes" with Lawson, forming a group called The New Quicksilver with Alan Bibey on mandolin. [5] This left Lawson to enlist a whole new lineup for DL&Q, which consisted of guitarist and vocalist Russell Moore, plus brothers Scott (on banjo) and Curtis Vestal (on bass). [2]

Chester William Powers, Jr. (October 7, 1937 – November 16, 1994) was an American singer-songwriter, and under the stage names Dino Valenti or Dino Valente, one of the lead singers of the rock group Quicksilver Messenger Service. As a songwriter, he was known as Jesse Oris Farrow.
From 1963 to 1968, McDonald was a vocalist in several bands that played Bellingham, Anacortes, Mount Vernon, Oak Harbor and other Pacific Northwest venues. McDonald sang with regional bands such as The Accents or Bellingham Accents (1963–1965), The Checkers (1964–1965), The Unusuals (1965–1967), and Fat Jack (1966–1968).
Weird backstory aside, the Detroit duo became the most enduring band of the early 2000s garage rock revival and perhaps one if the biggest bands in the world by their final performance in 2009.

John Cipollina (August 24, 1943 – May 29, 1989) was a guitarist best known for his role as a founder and the lead guitarist of the prominent San Francisco rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service. After leaving Quicksilver he formed the band Copperhead , was a member of the San Francisco All Stars and later played with numerous other bands.
