The A-Team was created by writers and producers Stephen J. The club was founded in 2001 in Oakland, California by alumni of Amherst College's rugby team. The name and motto (miseror stultum) of the club come from their adopted mascot, the popular The A-Team character, BA Baracus.
The A-Team began airing on NBC on January 23, 1983, with the pilot episode, "Mexican Slayride", and ended on March 8, 1987, with "Without Reservations". The show comprises 98 episodes over five seasons.
The episode originally had no introductory theme and credits like later episodes of The A-Team, but in syndication, the season 1 introduction is tagged on, with a segment depicting Tim Dunigan as Face replacing the part of Dirk Benedict. The DVD boxset of season 1 features the pilot in its original version, without introduction.
