Columbia, formerly Wright's Ferry, is a borough (town) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census , it had a population of 10,222. [ 3 ] It is 28 miles (45 km) southeast of Harrisburg , on the east (left) bank of the Susquehanna River , across from Wrightsville and York County and just south of U.S. Route 30 .
Notable non-residential buildings include the Reading and Columbia Freight Station (1883), Holy Trinity Catholic Church and School (1915), American Legion Post 469, Women's Club, Columbia Lodge #1074 BPOE, Columbia Town Hall (1874, 1947), St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1888), Franklin Hotel (c. 1833), and Columbia Water Company (1849 and later).

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 490 square miles (1,300 km 2), of which 483 square miles (1,250 km 2) is land and 7.1 square miles (18 km 2) (1.4%) is water. [4] The southern tip of Columbia County is part of the Coal Region.

The township has two unincorporated villages: Columbia Cross Roads in the east, and Austinville in the west. According to the United States Census Bureau, Columbia Township has a total area of 41.0 square miles (106.1 km 2), of which 40.8 square miles (105.8 km 2) is land and 0.08 square miles (0.2 km 2), or 0.21%, is water. South Centre Township is located east of the geographic center of Columbia County, along the north side of the Susquehanna River.It is bordered to the west by Scott Township, to the north by North Centre Township, to the east by the borough of Briar Creek, and to the south, across the Susquehanna, by Mifflin Township and Main Township.
