McNeil is Designated as a 6A school under the University Interscholastic League (UIL) [4] McNeil is located on the border of Williamson and Travis County, with part of the school in one county and the rest in another. The school serves: the census-designated place of Jollyville, [5] [6] and sections of the Brushy Creek CDP. [7]
It was named for George McNeil, a regional manager on the A&N. The community's post office was established in December 1888, with Adison A. Sheppard as the postmaster. Neil McNeil is one of 31 high schools run by the TCDSB and one of four all-boys schools, and currently has an enrolment of 826 students. The school offers a Broad-based technology centre, cooperative education program and one of the largest visual arts studios in the city. This school is a sister school to Notre Dame High School.
