After spending one year at the Anatomical Institute in Oslo, Norway, Alksne served as the Chief of Neurosurgery at Harbor General Hospital at UCLA from 1964 to 1967. He then served as the Professor and Chair of Neurological Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia from 1967 to 1971. [1] Alksne moved to San Diego in 1971. [1]
