Toowoomba East State School (established in 1887) is important in demonstrating the evolution of state education and its associated architecture in Queensland. The place retains an excellent, representative example of a government-designed school building that was an architectural response to prevailing government educational philosophies.
The development of a purpose-built technical college in Toowoomba followed the formation of the Department of Public Instruction in 1905, established to centralise the control of technical education in Queensland. Prior to this, technical education in Toowoomba had been organised by local committees, often associated with the School of Arts.

Site map. Toowoomba North State School is located in the Darling Downs city of Toowoomba, northwest of the central business district. It occupies a long, two hectare site along the northern side of a block bounded by Mort Street to the east, Taylor Street to the north, and Kingston Street to the west.
Toowoomba East State School is a government primary (Prep–6) school for boys and girls at Cnr Arthur & Mary Streets [ 23 ] [ 24 ] In 2018, the school had an enrolment of 859 students with 60 teachers (51 full-time equivalent) and 25 non-teaching staff (17 full-time equivalent). [ 25 ]
