Te Puea Memorial Marae is a marae located in Māngere Bridge, Auckland, New Zealand.Opened in 1965, it was the first urban marae in Auckland, built for all Māori instead of a specific iwi, but in particular as a community centre for local urban Māori communities around Onehunga and Māngere, and for the Waikato Tainui iwi.
Its 3–4.5-metre-high (9 ft 10 in – 14 ft 9 in) eruptions occur quite independently of its near neighbour Waikorohihi. Wairoa Geyser, acclaimed as erupting 60 m (200 ft) high, last erupted naturally in December 1940 after which its water level fell to 4.5 m (15 ft) below overflow and the water became acidic.
Te Puea Hērangi CBE (9 November 1883 – 12 October 1952), known by the name Princess Te Puea, was a Māori leader from New Zealand's Waikato region. Her mother, Tiahuia, was the elder sister of King Mahuta .
