Pantomime (/ ˈ p æ n t ə ˌ m aɪ m /; [1] informally panto) [2] is a type of musical comedy stage production designed for family entertainment. It was developed in England and is performed throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and (to a lesser extent) in other English-speaking countries, especially during the Christmas and New Year season.
The 1944 pantomime was Old Mother Red Riding Boots, written by the princesses and Tannar as a "mash up" of six traditional pantomime stories. [1] [6] Elizabeth wore a pink satin dress with lace sleeves to play 'Lady Christina Sherwood' and Margaret portrayed 'The Honourable Lucinda Fairfax' in a "blue taffeta dress with cream lace bloomers".
