Silent Running is an album by 65daysofstatic. It is an alternate soundtrack to the 1972 science fiction film , Silent Running . It was originally commissioned by Glasgow Film Festival at the beginning of 2011 as a live re-score performed by the band.
"Silent Running" was one of the first songs to emerge from the Rutherford/Robertson songwriting partnership. It was among a series of songs that the pair wrote in order to test the results of their collaboration. When producer Christopher Neil heard the song on a demo tape that Rutherford played, he recommended that it be used for the album. [9]
A CD with audio restoration was released in 2016 by Intrada, Special Collection Volume 369. [6] The title song was later covered by David Matthews on his 1977 album Dune.
