Wingate would go on to roll through regionals to earn its first-ever bid to the D2 World Series. After dropping the first game in Cary, N.C., the Bulldogs reeled off five straight victories to capture the first national title in program history.
The region has three teams ranked in the top five of the Collegiate Baseball top 25 poll and six in the top 15. After opening the season with four games at Florida Tech, Wingate comes home to host three games against Charleston, an NCAA Tournament team from last year.
The 'Dogs were ranked 23rd in the "Perfect Game" preseason top 25 poll. Wingate ranked 16th in the nation with a SAC-best 3.08 ERA last season, while also leading the league in strikeouts per nine innings. Wingate is ready to get back on the field after not playing a game in over 11 months.
