This is a resource site by Jeff Davidson for the building details of an Elco 80' World War II Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB) / Patrol Torpedo (PT) boat with leanings towards a 109 to 138 boat operating in the Pacific theater.
His research shows that Elco 80' boats were equipped with 28" diameter propellers until PT 613 (direct drive boats) which used 29" diameter propellers. Pitch = inches traveled per revolution (with no slip) and relates to the blades angle to the hub.
The best freely available reference for hull fittings is the Elco Parts Catalog which can be downloaded from this page: http://www.ptboatforum.com/PT_Boat_Documents.html. Diagrams and images of the fittings can be found within.
The following images show dimensions and placement for an Elco 80' PT boat bridge and chart house, in particular for an early 103 class. These dimensional images represent a best effort on my part, please confirm dimensions given here for yourself if errors cannot be tolerated.
The following images show dimensions and placement for Elco 80' PT boat deck dead lights. Dead lights are basically a window that can't be opened aka fixed glass. Deck dead lights are called deck lights on dead light construction drawings.
Throttle push rod deck housings for PT 103-162 (shown) and PT 163-196, available in 1/35th, 1/32nd, 1/30th, 1/24th, 1/20th, and 1/16th scales. All sections and end blocks are included:
The following image shows dimensions and placement for the helm on Elco 103 class boats. This dimensional image is based on Elco drawings. Please confirm dimensions given here for yourself if errors cannot be tolerated.
Deck vent styles for Elco 80' PT boats according to the plans. Note that I have a photo of the 611 that shows a different deck box near the starboard foot rail, shaped like a larger 103-196 vent facing forward.
The following images show dimensions and placement for an Elco 80' PT boat day room cabin trunk, in particular for an early 103 class. These drawings are based on measurements given in original Elco drawings.
The following images show dimensions for an Elco 103 class PT boat bridge control panel. The control panel shown, with minor changes as noted, was used on all Elco 103 class boats except PT 565-624 which had a separate instrument panel.
