Rocky Arbor State Park is a 244-acre (99 ha) [1] Wisconsin state park in the Wisconsin Dells region. The park was established in 1932 to protect sandstone outcrops eroded into picturesque walls and ledges.
Wisconsin became the first state to have a state park in 1878 [1] when it formed "The State Park". The park consisted of 760 square miles (2,000 km 2) in northern Wisconsin (most of present-day Vilas County). [2] The state owned 50,631 acres (205 km 2), which was less than 10% of the total area.
