This post is over 9 months old, not sure why you guys crawl out every few months to defend Optifine. If you are playing a version beyond 1.12, there are ZERO reasons to use optifine. It is poorly made and doesn't work well with anything else. It has to have hand made exceptions to work for every other mod.
Optifine does not work with Fabric without Optifabric. The easy way is to just get Sodium (and Sodium Extra for more settings), and if you want Shaders, grab Iris Shaders, it comes bundled with Sodium, and supports most made-for Optifine shaderpacks. Sodium grants a way bigger performance improvement anyway.
As someone that migrated from optifine to sodium, you can 100% recreate the experience better and smoother with a few mods. As people have mentioned, Iris for shaders, okzoomer is also great for optifine zoom features.
i want to use the optifine mod in a fabric modpack. The subreddit for all things related to Modded Minecraft for Minecraft Java Edition --- This subreddit was originally created for discussion around the FTB launcher and its modpacks but has since grown to encompass all aspects of modding the Java edition of Minecraft.
Because of this I decided to look into modding with fabric instead of going for Optifine and it has been the best choice for performance and general enjoyment of Minecraft for me. To give an example. I'm running a fairly beefy pc but used to cap around 70-80 fps while using shaders and got many lag spikes when crossing chunk borders.
Here's a comprehensive list of OptiFine alternatives for Forge on MC 1.20.1: Custom Item Textures: Forge CIT. Or if you use Forge 47.1.3 on Minecraft 1.20.1, you can use Sinytra Connector, a Fabric-to-Forge translation layer, to use CIT Resewn and other Fabric mods. So, running Fabric with Optifine or OptiFabric mod causes rendering issues as shown here and here (credits: u/K9Paradox; u/Buiscy). All we need to do is install OptiFabric step-by-step, then go to Minecraft directory -> config/fabric/ -> open indigo-renderer.properties file with any text editor and change lines to: always-tesselate-blocks=false
So i am a little confused, when i look online there are no tutorials/guides for making Optifabric work for 1.20.4 but it seems is a Optifine preview for 1.20.4 and a seemingly up-to-date optifabric, does it not work because optifine is in preview for 1.20.4 or is optifabric just out of date?
I use Fabric and I have OptiFine running with OptiFabric, but when I try o run a texture pack that needs OptiFine doesn't run correctly or appear in the list of texture packs :( I want to use Visual Enchanments, Colorful Containers or BetterVanillaBuilding.
Rubium is an unofficial "fork" of the sodium mod for the forge mod loader, and it should do the exact same thing as sodium, except it works on forge instead of fabric. That said, you might want to look into if your mod pack can be built in fabric instead. Fabric is generally more performant than Forge.
