I moved to Microsoft 365 Office Family installation. Same as un-installation it halted nearly at the end of the process and stayed idle for 3 hours. I checked in Control Panel > Programs and Apps > Installed Apps. Microsoft 365 Office was shown but the task was idle in Task Manager. I restarted the PC and this time Office displayed it’s all set.

We purchased a pc with office 365 free trial on it. We use local install of 2016 instead of 365. I went into programs and uninstalled the previous install of trial version. Installed my local copy and valid license key. I see it is now activated. Everytime you open word/excel/outlook - the office 365 message pops up to start trial, buy or activate.
Hi Brad, Unless a license for Office 365 was included with your purchase, you need to actually subscribe. Many new computers include a trial version of Office 365 but not an actual permanent lic
Yes, there are now some computers that 'come with' a "free" year of 365 Personal, and fewer that "come with" "free" Office 2021 Home and Student.
