Tyndall Air Force Base (IATA: PAM, ICAO: KPAM, FAA LID: PAM) is a United States Air Force Base located 12 miles (19 km) east of Panama City, Florida. The base was named in honor of World War I pilot 1st Lt. Frank Benjamin Tyndall. The base operating unit and host wing is the 325th Fighter Wing (325 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC).
Brigadier General Charles A. Horner, the USAF Air Defense Weapons Center commander, flew in the 325th Tactical Training Wing's first F-15 Eagle on 7 December 1983. [4] The center was inactivated on 12 September 1991. First Air Force held a change of command and was officially relocated from Langley AFB, Virginia, to Tyndall AFB, Florida. [4]
