Bakersfield grew rapidly and the population was estimated at just over 1,000 in 1930. The period of rapid growth was short-lived, however, as oil production and prices declined during the 1930s. Allen ISD covers most of the city of Allen, as well as portions of the cities of McKinney, Plano, and Parker. Allen hosts a campus of Collin College, which is located inside Allen High School and mainly serves dual-credit high school students. A separate Collin College Technical Campus, opened in 2020, is located in west Allen. The 340,000 square-foot facility serves more than 7,000 students when fully occupied and is dedicated to workforce education.

Shehee was inducted into the Foothill High School Hall of Fame in 2014, [3] and the Bob Elias Kern County Sports Hall of Fame in 2016. [4] As of 2016, Shehee is a teacher at Bakersfield High School. [4] Shehee has a son named RJ Shehee who currently attends Norris Middle School.
