Lake Ming is a man-made recreational lake located in Bakersfield, California.It is primarily a motorboat and water-skiing lake, although sailboats are allowed the second full weekend each month, and every Tuesday and Thursday after 1:30 pm. Lake Ming also has fishing and the Department of Fish and Game stocks the lake with 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) rainbow trout during the winter months.
Kern River County Park is a large recreation facility located just north of Bakersfield, California. The facility is 1,012 acres (4.10 km 2), and includes a park, zoo, golf course, and other amenities. [1] The complex is served by Alfred Harrell Highway. The segment to the west of the park was built as a 4-lane local freeway.
During the late 1940s and early 1950s, additional land was purchased east of Hart Park. This would quadruple the size from 370 to 1,012 acres (150 to 410 ha) (although the new land was not then considered part of Hart Park). Called the Kern River County Park, the land would contain a motorboat lake, golf course, and campgrounds.
The Kern Canyon is popular for camping, [51] hiking, and picnicking. There are developed campgrounds maintained by the US Forest Service along the North Fork of the Kern River. Campgrounds include Camp 3, Fairview, Goldledge, Headquarters, Hospital Flat, and Limestone.
