Spanish science fiction starts mid 19th century; depending on how it is defined, Lunigrafía (1855) from M. Krotse or Una temporada en el más bello de los planetas from Tirso Aguimana de Veca — a trip to Saturn published in 1870-1871, but written in the 1840s — is the first science fiction novel.
Bermúdez Castillo began writing short stories and tales published in Spanish fanzines in 1969. [3] His first science fiction book, El Mundo Hokun, [4] published in 1971, was an anthology with five tales, one of which won an European SF Award in 1972. [3]

The Spirit of Science Fiction (Spanish: El espíritu de la ciencia-ficción) is a novel written by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño around 1984 and published posthumously. It was published in Spanish in 2016; [1] an English-language translation by Natasha Wimmer was published in 2018 by Picador [2] and in February 2019 by Penguin.
