Our Mission. To protect the citizens of South Dakota by providing safe and secure facilities for juvenile and adult offenders committed to our custody by the courts, to provide effective community supervision to offenders upon their release and to utilize evidence-based practices to maximize opportunities for rehabilitation.
This database contains public information on felony offenders sentenced to the Department of Corrections. This information includes South Dakota offenders sentenced to prison. Information on offenders sentenced to county jail, probation, or any other form of supervision is not included.
The Adult Corrections System consists of the three main adult facilities, a prison annex, four Community Work Centers for minimum-security inmates and parolees in the Community Transition Program, prison industries and parole.
The South Dakota Department of Corrections is responsible for the management of the state adult prison system, the state adult parole system and the state juvenile corrections system.

Inmate Visitation. The DOC resumed in-person visitation in March 2021. Visitation will include social distancing and several new restrictions are in place to protect the health and safety of offenders, staff and visitors. Specific restrictions are included in the facility information below.
