The winter is long and cold, but the Yoder just rolls on. It has to like said, 5-6 days a week. This machine runs more like a pit, not so much a grill. I think most people who complain about the Yoder want a grill first and foremost. While the machine can grill just fine, it’s not the best grill in my opinion.
Nothing wrong with a Yoder for sure, but I'm a tight fisted, fixed income, retiree and love to save money where I can. I noticed the Blazi'N Grill Works controller is a PID controller - another plus IMHO.
5. Max temp on the Lone Star Grillz is 450, and lowest temp is 160. At 160 there is a warming feature to keep food warm until serving. 6. On larger cooks, I use the Maverick 2000 as an outdoor oven (for corn on the cob, Mac&Cheese, veggies, peach beans, or desserts), and use the Lone Star Grillz as a smoker for meats.
First part is about the Grill, second about the Company. The Grill. PROS. The cliché – Built like a tank. Body is 3/16”steel, deflector plate, and lid are 1/8” steel. 40 pound hopper – full should last thru all cooks that I can think of. Grates slide out. Virtually impossible to have an auger fire. Pellet dump.
The other option is the Yoder YS640. These are the only 2 that I know of that really give you the opportunity to grill over a live flame and actually char something. I know the Yoder gets great reviews, but it's $1900 (with the accessories) vs $1199 and it doesn't appear you can smoke and grill at the same time like with the Louisiana.
Hi - Long time charcoal griller and both electric and stick burner smoker here looking for some advice between the two Pellet Grills listed in the Title. I've read about (most) of the pellet grills on the market (MAK, GMG, CG, Louisiana, Memphis, Rec Tec and a few others) and tapped at my...
Jan 2, 2018. #2. I own a Yoder YS640 and it is the best smoker/grill I have ever owned. I have never ran a Red Tec but have owned multiple Traegers and there is not a comparison in build quality. Yoder maintains temperature extremely well, I also like the fact it can get to a high enough temperature to grill and sear.
As I continue to research and shop for pellet grills, it seems as though my price range is starting to increase. I have been browsing at grills for about a year and seriously looking for about 3 months. Started out looking at the pit boss at menards. Then started looking at Louisiana's and GMC's...
Grilla to Rec-Tec to Yoder. Yoder hands down (like the Ferrari), but It's $1449 + like $200 for shipping. A bit different than the $699 (shipping included) Grilla or even the $1,000 Rec-Tec.
Nice rig. I bought my 640 in 2017, ran it hard up to this year, great grill and a good smoker. But my fans that feed the fire are dead and need a new igniter, so another 250 bucks and we will be running again. No complaints. Almost 6 solid years of running 12 month of the year and hardly a problem. You made a good investment. Enjoy.
