Fincantieri Marinette Marine (FMM) is an American shipbuilding firm in Marinette, Wisconsin. Marinette Marine was a subsidiary of Manitowoc Marine Group of Wisconsin from 2000 to 2009, when it was sold to Fincantieri Marine Group.
Marinette Marine was awarded the contract to build Beloit on 18 September 2018. [ 7 ] [ 8 ] She was christened and launched on 7 May 2022 at the shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin . [ 2 ] The ship's sponsor is Beloit-born Major General Marcia Anderson , (USAR, Ret.).

Fincantieri successfully completed the acquisition of Manitowoc Marine Group from its parent company The Manitowoc Company, Inc. on 1 January 2009, which consisted of two shipyards in Wisconsin, including Marinette Marine, which built the first Freedom-class littoral combat ship.
Marinette Marine was awarded the contract to build the ship on 31 March 2016 and built at their shipyard in Marinette, Wisconsin. [1] The ship was launched on 31 October 2020, [3] subsequently she was christened on 20 November 2021. [4] [12] Marinette was commissioned on 16 September 2023, at a ceremony in Menominee, Michigan.
The company is currently building the USS Constellation FFG 62.
The first ship is expected to cost about $1.3 billion.
The Freedom class is one of two classes of the littoral combat ship program, built for the United States Navy. [20]The Freedom class was proposed by a consortium formed by Lockheed Martin as "prime contractor" and by Fincantieri (project) through the subsidiary Marinette Marine (manufacturer) as a contender for a fleet of small, multipurpose warships to operate in the littoral zone.
