The Dixon Building (number 49) and Griffiths Building (number 47) are parts of a heritage building located on Front Street, Toronto, Ontario. The building's north facade is curved to follow the property line along Front Street east of Bay Street. To the south is CIBC Square , formerly the site of the Union Station Bus Terminal which was previously the CP Express and Freight Building which itself replaced the old Grand Trunk Freight Shed after 1904.
The three railways now converged at the Toronto waterfront, a narrow strip of land south of Front Street. They were forced to share the limited real estate available. [2] As a consequence, the Grand Trunk Railway (GTR) built the first union station in Toronto in 1858 at a location just west of the present Union Station train shed. [4]
