Mary Frann (born Mary Frances Luecke, February 27, 1943 – September 23, 1998) [1] was an American stage, film, and television actress. She is best known for her role as Joanna Loudon, the wife of Bob Newhart 's character on the CBS sitcom Newhart , which aired from 1982 to 1990.
Newhart is an American television sitcom that aired on CBS from October 25, 1982, to May 21, 1990, with a total of 184 half-hour episodes spanning eight seasons. The series stars Bob Newhart and Mary Frann as an author and his wife, respectively; who own and operate the Stratford Inn in rural Vermont.
In 1972, soon after he guest-starred on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, he was approached by his agent and his managers, producer Grant Tinker, and actress Mary Tyler Moore (the husband/wife team who founded MTM Enterprises), to work on a series called The Bob Newhart Show, to be written by David Davis and Lorenzo Music.
