On October 8, 2012, NBC placed a pilot order, under the name After Hours, and ordered four additional scripts on April 18, 2013 under the final name The Night Shift. [1] [2] It was renewed for a second season on July 1, 2014, after airing only 5 episodes. [3] The first episode premiered to 7.67 million viewers, winning its timeslot.
The Night Shift airs on Global TV in Canada, and on Universal Channel in Australia. [39] [40] On September 23, 2015, Season 1 premiered in India on Colors Infinity, and in Korea, season 3 episodes will premiere right after their U.S. airing on Olleh TV.
