Encouraged by this success, Greeves decided to diversify into motorcycle manufacture and set up Greeves motor cycles in 1953. A keen trials rider in his spare time, he had started collecting veteran and vintage motorcycles, including a 1912 Triumph with the registration 'OLD 1'. Sten Lundin, riding a Monark motorcycle rebadged as a Lito, took an early championship lead by winning the first three Grand Prix races of the year then, held off a challenge from Husqvarna's Bill Nilsson to claim his second 500cc Motocross World Championship.

However, Bickers did compete in the British round of the 250cc motocross World Championship, claiming the victory at the British Grand Prix.
The product achieved considerable commercial success, and ESCI was able to invest its new resources in 1:9 scale motorcycle kits. The first plastic production kit was the BMW R75 with sidecar, [ 3 ] followed by the Harley-Davidson WLA , and the Zündapp KS750 , all hand-crafted by the famous creator master modeller Manuel Olive Sans.
