The Oxford University Music Society (OUMS) [1] is one of the oldest societies in the University of Oxford, England, tracing its origins back to 1872. The Society was formed in 1916 by the merger of the Oxford University Musical Club , founded in 1872, and the Oxford University Musical Union , founded in 1884.
For 27 years, especially during the 1940s, the society met free of charge at Gunfield in Norham Gardens, North Oxford, with the sponsorship and support of the pianist Margaret Deneke and her sister Helena Deneke, who lived at Gunfield. The society changed its name to OCMS in 1968. Concerts at the Holywell Music Room restarted in 1987.

Regarding the UNIQ Summer School, of all the UNIQ students who went on to make applications in autumn 2010 to enter the university in 2011/12, 39 per cent ended up with places. The overall success rate for Oxford applicants is around 20 per cent. Most colleges also run their own access schemes and initiatives.
