A game that will always bold a special place in my heart. It was the game that introduced me to the Kingdom Hearts series, so it's always gonna be good in my book. I've never hated a Kingdom Hearts game more. My first kh ever so I may be biased but I fucking loved it, it's art style, and the card combat mechanics.
I liked the GBA version, I personally think the Card System worked better as a handheld game. The PS2 version was easier due to being able to move in a 3D space, you can dodge things extremely easier and half the challenge is taken away. Yes, even on Proud Mode, I found the game easier than the GBA version. 3.

GBA for the visuals (I like pixel art) , gameplay, and dialogue and ReCoM for the cutscenes to get a better understanding. I genuinely liked the tone of the GBA version better and also it was cool to not hear Soras voice change until KH2 where it made more sense.
The story is identical in both. If you tried it already and don't like the gameplay, just watch the cutscenes from re:CoM online. It's more fun in the GBA version, but there is one additional boss fight in Re:CoM that is not in CoM. If you feel the absolute need to play either, just play the GBA version.

Unpopular opinion: the GBA version of Sora's game is better, but the PS2 version of Riku's game is better. I can get behind this. Duels and Break Speed Bonuses help Riku’s campaign feel fresh compared to Sora and the additional fights in the Remake feel like they should have been in the game to start with.
For a replay of just going back into the series, I would definitely giving CoM a try. The GBA version is 1000x better than the remake. I prefer Re:CoM, the battles work better there for me, I don't like the depth on the GBA, also, cutscenes, voices, better music. But I love both.
The gameplay works a bit better because it was originally designed around the GBA, not to mention COMs sprite art is extremely beautiful, but re:COMs voice acting (I'm looking at you Larxene) new scenes that expand the game and tie into KH2, overall dialouge and improved boss fights, not to mention the duel system for Riku's side and the new ...
I was wondering if anyone has had any issues getting kingdom hearts chain of memories on the gba to run, it freezes during opening cutscene. as well as castlevania chronicle's on ps1 doesn't seem to load after cutscene.
