This allowed inlet duct enough maneuverability, to move away from intake throttle body, and have enough room to spray CRC GDI IVD Intake Valve & Turbo Cleaner directly into throttle body holding can upside down. With a 0W-30 oil, it's quiet like a mouse, can't hear it from inside the car. Thick oil may not lubricate well enough the lobe that runs the pump - it sits high up ...

Hyundai Theta 2.0L Engine Problems and Reliability. I am thinking about a 2019 or 2020 SanteFe utimate and have been doing some reading about the theta II engine issues. They burn oil, numerous recalls because of failures, noisiy at start, only good for around 150,000 miles. It sounds like they are junk.

He readily acknowledged the GDI 2.4 and 2.0T engine issues and told me that they were corrected and have not been a problem with the 2018 and 2019 models....but they did have problems with the engines up through the 2017 models. He told me that the issue was; the company Gamma (if I remember that right) built the engines and they were supposed ...

Direct Injection Carbon Buildup. Given that our cars use direct injection (DI) it is a known fact that the engine is prone to increased accumulation of deposits on the valves as a result of deposit forming substances being fed back into the engine via the PCV system. Since there is no fuel being sprayed directly over the valves, like it would ...

  8. 2012 Accent 1.6L GDI Engine Rattle/Knock/Buzz - Hyundai Forums

    www.hyundai-forums.com/threads/2012-accent-1-6l-gdi-engine-rattle-knock-buzz...

The knock sensor is essentially a small microphone bolted to the engine. It's 'tuned' to pick up the frequencies generated by engine knock. When it hears engine knock, it tells the car's computer which in turn retards the timing and hopefully eliminates the knock. So yes, a faulty knock sensor can cause knock.

Maintenance/Repairs. Jman136 July 11, 2016, 5:24pm 1. So, here’s the deal. I purchased a 2015 Kia Sportage with the GDI engine (non-turbo). I did some research and primarily found that as long as you use Top Tier fuel (which I always do) this will eliminate the carbon build-up. I also had KIA run their fuel additive through my system to clean ...

Where it got weird was the GD (Elantra GT) series changed engines after the first year (2013) in the US market and went from the 1.8L MPI engine to the 2.0L GDI. Big improvement in performance.

  11. Hyundai and their terrible GDI Engine Is Ruing My Life

    www.hyundai-forums.com/threads/hyundai-and-their-terrible-gdi-engine-is-ruing...

Last year my 2014 Hyundai Sonata broke down due to the awful GDI engine burning through oil like a flame through dry kindling. After few oil consumption tests and the dealer submitting their suggestion for an engine replacement to Hyundai, the Hyundai warrantee department determined it is acceptable to lose a quart of oil every 1,000 miles.
