Bear Spray usually has a 30' range, where regular pepper spray often has a 12' range. The concentration of capsaicin (active ingredient) is a LOT higher in bear spray. UDAP has 2%, and claims 3.3 million Scoville units, although Sabre says published Scoville numbers may be misleading.
Whereas, pepper spray is small and concealable. Along with being concealable, I think pepper spray has a huge advantage in that its small size means it is less likely to be knocked from your hands. OTOH, a large wasp spray can could be kicked or jarred from your grasp rather easily. Thank you!
That is absolutely false! Self-defense pepper spray is approximately 5 times stronger than bear spray. Bear spray is 1 to 2 percent OC, and self defense pepper spray is usually 10 percent OC. Bear spray is only max 2.0 caps. They make way more potent spray for humans. I live in Arizona. If a civilian feels threatened and the bg is coming at you you can spray him. I seriously doubt bear spray would make you blind unless you got sprayed too close because of the power. Get a human spray. A good one is way more potent and smaller.
Most wasp sprays will not spray 20 feet, regardless of their label claim. If you are going to use a non-lethal form of defense, pepper spray is a better option. Also, SHU's only represents the strength of the Raw OC in a spray. Major Capsaicinoids (MCC's) represents the strength of the entire formulation after it has been diluted. Anybody who tells you different is either uninformed or lying. SABRE RED is 1.33 MCC's while FOX is only .71 MCC's. Therefore, SABRE RED is nearly double the strength of FOX!
