  5. replace fuel tanks - Trawler Forum

    www.trawlerforum.com/threads/replace-fuel-tanks.22975

I hired a welder who welded up the tank. So I will try repairing the tank first. I know the middle 400 gallon tank is ok which would provide 600+ miles and repair replace tanks over time. The replacement tanks would be plastic. To repair tank would cost $1000.00. To replace would be $2000.00.

  6. masts and booms - Trawler Forum

    951. Location. USA. The booms are for lifting, dinghies, heavy coolers full of beverages, and other necessities. Weight ratings vary, so ask the prior owner or research the docs if it was builder installed. It might be possible to use the mast as the centerline support for a pair of outriggers for stability (wouldn't use the single boom for that).

  7. Adding Mast and Sails to Trawler

    www.trawlerforum.com/threads/adding-mast-and-sails-to...

Adding a sail like this to a trawler is a bad idea without substantial modifications to the boat. A "kite" sail, like a traditional symmetric spinnaker, should be fine to use on a trawler in light winds as far as the hull is concerned. However, a sail like this puts extreme loads on the "rigging", of which a trawler has none.

Vessel Make. 1970 Willard 36 Trawler. I have about 800 nms on a friends 2014 Horizon Power Cat 52, over half of which in the Gulf off Florida's West Coast between Cedar Key and Dry Tortugas. We've avoided seas more than about 3-4 feet or so. The ride is fine, a bit jerky for my tastes.

  10. CHB 41 Fuel Tanks Advice | Trawler Forum

    www.trawlerforum.com/threads/chb-41-fuel-tanks-advice.73692

Vessel Make. 1980 Marine Trader 34DC. We are looking hard at a CHB 41. Everything about the boat ranges from acceptable to great. BUT, the fuel tanks are near term ticking time bombs. Port has a patch on the bottom, starboard has scale rust on the top, crud in the Racor. This is a single engine boat so there is a bit more room to move about ...

  11. Fuel Consumption Question - Trawler Forum

    www.trawlerforum.com/threads/fuel-consumption-question.56357

36 Albin Aft Cabin. Fuel consumption on a 36 foot single engine trawler operating at normal trawler speeds will be less than 2 gallons an hour. That translates to about 4 miles per gallon. I get a kick out of people who want to know all kinds of irrelevant facts before the will give you a fuel burn estimate.
