In 1985, Xi'an Jiaotong University established a special class for gifted youth called Honors Youth Program of Xi'an Jiaotong University (Chinese: 西安交大少年班, also translated as Special Class for the Gifted Young of Xi'an Jiaotong University, [15] a name usually confused with the equivalent in the USTC).

[2] [3] Undergraduate students at XJTLU earn two degrees: a degree from Xi’an Jiaotong–Liverpool University and a degree from the University of Liverpool. In July, 1959, The High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University was established. In 1971, the high school was managed by Xi'an government and it changed name to "Xi'an No.38 Middle School". In 1981, in order to inherit history, HSXJTU was rebuilt. In 1991, HSXJTU was awarded the title of the key high school of Xi'an and Shaanxi province.
