Church Stretton is a market town and civil parish in Shropshire, England, 13 miles (21 km) south of Shrewsbury and 15 miles (24 km) north of Ludlow. The population in 2011 was 4,671. Rectory Wood is in the heart of Church Stretton. The site is within the Shropshire Hills, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). [3] The wood mainly comprises mature native broadleaf species, with supplementary mixed planting. There is also a meadow on a steep bank adjacent to the wood which rises up to meet the Long Mynd. [3]
