The Macau Resident Identity Card (Chinese: 澳門居民身份證; Portuguese: Bilhete de Identidade de Residente) or BIR is an official identity card issued by the Identification Services Bureau of Macau. There are two types of Resident Identity Cards: one for permanent residents and one for non-permanent residents.
The bearer of this passport is a Chinese citizen who is a permanent resident of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and has the right of abode in and the right to return to the Region. This passport is valid for ten years, unless otherwise stated. But it is normally valid for five years if issued to a child under eighteen years of age.
