Carolina Crown won the 2013 Drum Corps International World Class Championship, the first former Open Class/Division II corps to do so. Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps marches in the Bristol, Rhode Island Fourth of July Parade in 2017.
In 2004, the Division I membership limit was increased from 128 to 135. The membership limit for World Class, the new Open Class, and International Class was increased to 150 in 2007. Midas Winds is Carolina Gold's Indoor Winds group. They compete in Independent Open. They are the first WGI winds group to be started by a drum corps They were originally known as The Carolina Gold Winds before they changed to Midas Winds.
