College of the Redwoods (CR) is a public community college with its main campus south of Eureka, California. It is part of the California Community Colleges System and serves three counties. It has two branch campuses, as well as three additional sites. It is one of twelve community colleges in California that offer on-campus housing for students.

Headwaters Forest Reserve is the largest area of old-growth redwoods protected as a result of the Redwood Summer protests. [11] An agreement between Department of the Interior and Pacific Lumber Company was crafted in September, 1996. The agreement has two main parts: first, it provided $380 million of public funds for the purchase of the reserve.
Among tree hunters and botanists, some groves and trees are given names unofficially. However, over 900 Coast redwood groves have been named by the Save the Redwoods League, as an "everlasting memorial to an individual, family or organization". [2] It has not been disclosed whether the Atlas Grove is one of the dedicated memorial groves.

The Headquarters Administration Building of Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Santa Cruz County, California, was a historic structure built in 1936 by crews of the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was built out of local materials (redwood logs and stone), and was one of the best-preserved examples of the CCC's work in the California state park system.
