All public schools and many private schools in Bangladesh follow the curriculum of NCTB. Starting in 2010, every year free books are distributed to students between Grade-1 to Grade-10 to eliminate illiteracy. [6] These books comprise most of the curricula of the majority of Bangladeshi schools. There are two versions of the curriculum.

1135 – Sharafeddin Tusi followed al-Khayyam's application of algebra to geometry, and wrote a treatise on cubic equations which "represents an essential contribution to another algebra which aimed to study curves by means of equations, thus inaugurating the beginning of algebraic geometry." [2]

The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad is an annual mathematical competition arranged for school and college students to nourish their interest and capabilities for mathematics. It has been regularly organized by the Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee since 2001. Bangladesh Math Olympiad activities started in 2003 formally. [1] [2] [3]
It also publishes the GANIT: Journal of Bangladesh Mathematical Society. In the 1980s they voluntarily worked with National Curriculum and Textbook Board to re-write the mathematics textbook in Bangladesh. [3] S. M. Azizul Haque, the head of mathematics department of Dhaka University, was the first president of the society. [4]
The work was the first to propose the idea of uniting algebra and geometry into a single subject [2] and invented an algebraic geometry called analytic geometry, which involves reducing geometry to a form of arithmetic and algebra and translating geometric shapes into algebraic equations. For its time this was ground-breaking.
