The first color movie was The Golden Yurt (Altan Örgöö, 1961), based on a folktale. It was produced in cooperation with the East German DEFA studios. The music of the film, written by L. Mördorj, was played and recorded by the GDR Radio orchestra and became a classic of the Mongolian symphony.
'Mister Mister Wind') is a 2023 drama film written and directed by Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir in her feature directorial debut. [1] The film had its world premiere at the Orizzonti section of the 80th Venice International Film Festival. It was selected as the Mongolian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards. [2]

In 2023, If Only I Could Hibernate was the first Mongolian film to play in Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival, at the Un Certain Regard section. It is a co-production between Zoljargal Purevdash's Mongolian production house Amygdala Films and Paris-based Urban Factory, headed by producers Frédéric Corvez and Maeva Savinien.
