The Norwich Built-up Area is an urban area [1] [2] which extends from the city of Norwich to Taverham, Horsham St Faith and Cringleford in Norfolk, England. The area takes in the district of the City of Norwich, and parts of Broadland and South Norfolk districts. The area was recorded at having a population of 213,166 at the 2011 Census. [3]

(In ONS reports of the 2011 and 2021 censuses, many of these areas were called "built-up sub-areas" of larger urban areas ; as of October 2024 [update] , the ONS has not defined a new nomenclature for the urban areas or released any data for them.)

In the UK Highway Code for England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, a built-up area is a settled area in which the speed limit of a road is automatically 30 mph (48 km/h). In Wales it's 20 mph (32 km/h). These roads are known as 'restricted roads' and are identified by the presence of street lights.

It does make sense. This is a list of built up areas and built up area sub divisions from the ONS' census database. If you'd like to add a column specifying if the area is built up (e.g. Newport) or a built up subdivision (e.g. Blackwood) then go right ahead.
