The first CD covers all of the UK Singles Chart hits from Adam Ant's career (with and without the Ants) from 1980–1990, beginning with Young Parisians & the earliest Dirk Wears White Sox singles from Do It Records (which were re-released once the Ants found fame and charted in the UK Top 40), and ending with the charting singles from his then most recent album, Manners & Physique - "Room at ...
Ant would achieve further US singles chart success in the 1990s, with "Room at the Top" a second Top 20 hit in 1990 and the "Wonderful" title track a third Top 40 hit in 1995. Friend or Foe achieved US Gold Disc status within a year of its release, Kings of the Wild Frontier crawled to the same certification after nearly 14 years.
Stuart Leslie Goddard, known professionally as Adam Ant (born 3 November 1954) is an English singer, musician, and actor. He gained popularity as the lead singer of new wave group Adam and the Ants and later as a solo artist, scoring 10 UK top ten hits from 1980 to 1983, including three UK No. 1 singles. He has also worked as an actor ...
On 28 November 1980, Adam and the Ants released "Antmusic" (often stylised as 'Antmusic') as the third single in the UK from Kings of the Wild Frontier. [5] "Antmusic" peaked at No. 2 in the UK in January 1981, being held off the top by the re-release of John Lennon's "Imagine" after his murder in New York City on 8 December 1980.
The B-side to the single is called "Bruce Lee", an obvious homage to the late martial artist (Adam impersonates Bruce Lee in the "Ant Rap" music video). Both songs appear on both sides of the cassette single. When Manners & Physique was reissued on Cherry Red Records in 2009, "Bruce Lee" was one of five bonus tracks added. US remix, 7" edit of ...
Antics in the Forbidden Zone is a Greatest Hits compilation and accompanying video by the English new wave musician Adam Ant, released 23 October 1990 by Epic Records. [1] The collection spans the years 1979 to 1985, including Ant's time as frontman of Adam and the Ants with selections from Dirk Wears White Sox (1979), Kings of the Wild Frontier (1980), and Prince Charming (1981), as well as ...
There are two versions of the cover. The first has Adam and the Ants across the top of the sleeve and the later version just Adam Ant. This is probably due to the confusion around the timing of Ant going solo, particularly as the song was performed by three fifths of the band: Ant, Pirroni and Hughes.
Following the disbandment of the successful Adam and the Ants earlier in 1982, Adam Ant began a solo career with fellow "Ant" guitarist and songwriter Marco Pirroni.. Like their previous band, which achieved 7 top-10 hits (2 at No. 1) in the UK Singles chart and the best-selling album of 1981 (Kings of the Wild Frontier), Ant's debut single "Goody Two-Shoes" was a smash hit.
