The great raft spider or fen raft spider (Dolomedes plantarius) is a European species of spider in the family Dolomedidae. Like other Dolomedes spiders, it is semiaquatic, hunting its prey on the surface of water. It occurs mainly in neutral to alkaline, unpolluted water of fens and grazing marsh.

A female fen raft spider at Redgrave and Lopham Fens. Redgrave and Lopham Fens was the first site in the UK at which a population of the fen raft spider (Dolomedes plantarius) was recorded. Following their discovery in 1956 a number of new pools were dug to encourage population expansion.
In 2003, surveys of Crymlyn Bog, Pant-y-Sais Fen and the inter-connecting wetlands identified the area as one of only three locations in the UK at which the fen raft spider is found. [2] The extent of the population is unknown but the quality of habitat at the site is considered good enough for the population to be stable. [3]
