Alita: Battle Angel is a 2019 American cyberpunk action film based on Yukito Kishiro's manga series Gunnm (or Battle Angel Alita in English). It was directed by Robert Rodriguez , produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau , and written by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis .
Battle Angel Alita, known in Japan as Gunnm (銃夢, Ganmu, lit. ' gun dream ' ) , [ a ] is a Japanese cyberpunk manga series created by Yukito Kishiro and originally published in Shueisha 's Business Jump magazine from 1990 to 1995.
Alita, or Gally (ガリィ, Garyi) in the original Japanese version, is the title character and the main protagonist of Yukito Kishiro's cyberpunk manga series Gunnm (also known as Battle Angel Alita in the English translation) and its sequels Last Order and Mars Chronicle.
Alita's use of an original technique on him, the Plasma Bissen, completely surprises Tzyk, who falls to Alita's use of the Geheimnis Einsatzrhythmen, followed by Hertzer Nadel. He manages to escape the destruction of his body by distracting Alita with an eyeball bomb and detaching his head via his Seinerweisen.

Gunnm: Martian Memory (銃夢 ~火星の記憶~, Ganmu Kasei no Kioku) is a 1998 action role-playing video game for the PlayStation based on the Battle Angel Alita manga series. To date it is the only Battle Angel Alita video game, and the only game developed by Yukito Products.
The Battle Angel Alita manga series features a cast of characters designed by Yukito Kishiro. The series takes place around the city of Scrapyard where residents, of whom many are heavily modified by cybernetics to better cope with the hard life, are forced to make a living.
